On June 8th, Mylene, Jean-Marie, Antoine, Marie-Eve, her cousin, as well as the grandparents of Vickie and Yan, went to the Phenix Awards night for nature and environment : The Earth Being was finalist in the "Youth Project" category , i.e. for projects having been created by people younger than 25 years old. The experience was very pleasant. Many interesting people were there, of which Luc Parlavecchio, Benoit Klein, Jerome Normand and Laurence Saint-Denis who took part in the National Action 2006 of ENvironnement JEUnesse! Nice surprise! Unfortunately, The Earth Being didn't win. However, all the finalist projects were extremely interesting, so we can only be happy for the winners. The winning project in the youth category was one of car modification to use electric power - theses cars are used in delivery businesses. The company is called "Alternativ". It thus received an amout of 2500$ .. It should be said that this project is recognized by the media and has already received several awards.

The other project in our category was from 6th year primary school students . They carried out an expo in their class to answer questions about the future of the planet...! Really inspiring to see our future collaborators!!! Obviously, it would have broken our heart to win over this wonderful project.

Finally, the best part... By luck, Antoine was introduced to the coordinator of the event during the cocktail following the awards. When she learned that he was from The Earth Being, her eyes were filled of a contagious light which forced Antoine to smile back (facial mimicry that he however doesn't like to do very often..). She then explained to him to what extent the selection comitee - which is indenpendant from the final comitee - was seduced by The Earth Being's project. They thaught our mandate is very inspiring. Frankly, this discussion was worth much more than any award!!! We are still smiling! Then... better luck the next time...??!!
